Coconut oil + honey + cinnamon.. for soft smooth shiny hair!

hellooooo!
I have decided to try all these DIY experiments on my hair because winter is coming and my hair is getting all dry :(

soooo, i've been researching online and i've already known about coconut oil being good for your hair but also honey and cinnamon! Now honey has a small amount of peroxide and cinnamon supposedly helps activate it. Now obviously this doesn't mean the honey + cinnamon will dye your hair after one go but you need to do these treatments repeatedly. I'm not sure if it will actually change your hair color but if it does, then that's a plus for me! This mixture will make your hair feel really soft and smooth.

Now I use these ingredients in a 1:1:1 ratio meaning if you put in 1 tbsp of coconut oil, you need to put in 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of cinnamon.
I have somewhat long hair (mid back) and I use a 2:2:2 ratio but I'm thinking of increasing it to 3:3:3 ratio because I feel like it wasn't enough to soak all my hair.

I try to let this soak in for a minimum of 2 hours so try to do this after dinner. I actually have it in my hair right now. I put it in my hair at around 1 pm and I'm gonna be leaving for dinner at around 8 so i'm planning on letting it just sit in my hair till around 6 pm!

I know some people say to split your hair into equal parts and spread it throughout your hair and blah blah but i'm really lazy and I just bend over the bath tub, gather all my hair and get some of the mixture and just spread it throughout my hair with my fingers. Just realize that the honey is still very sticky and the cinnamon kind of bunches up so it is a little hard to spread evenly. I used to use only coconut oil and honey or coconut oil, honey and egg yolks but I like to think that the cinnamon exfoliates my scalp. Also, the added benefit that it'll help dye your hair is good enough for me! After this, you want to use that awesome target shopping bag (or wherever you like to shop the most) and cover your head with it to soak up it's awesomeness! ;)

Now just sit back and relax and let it do it's work on your hair!

When you shower, I don't like to shampoo twice so I let my hair run under the water and try to get all the mixture out. Your hair will kind of feel oily/silky(?) in a way because of the coconut oil. Other people say leave it in, but I like to wash my scalp with shampoo and then let the water run it towards my ends. Then use conditioner only on my ends. You don't want to over dry your ends with shampoo and you don't want to put unnecessary oil in your scalp unless your scalp is dry. My scalp tends to get oily very fast so I avoid putting conditioner directly on my scalp.

And there you have it! Nice silky smooth hair! If you continuously use this or the honey + cinnamon mixture and it has dyed your hair, please show me! Because I think this will be the last time I'm gonna use cinnamon in my mixtures and I'll go back to coconut oil + honey or coconut oil, honey, + egg yolks.

Thank you for reading! :)

Target Job!

I had an interview at Target today and I got the job!
I applied for seasonal because I figured that was the best way in. I need a job because I'm going to save the money and put myself through college since my dad decided he didn't want to pay. I know it might take awhile but at least this is a step in the right direction!
I had both interviews on the same day. First they make you watch a video on the job that you wanted. (I think I watched the wrong video because after my second interview, they made me watch the correct one and then they told me I got the job!)
Then you wait in the break room while they're interviewing other potential candidates. I got interviewed and they asked questions such as "If I were your supervisor, what would they say your strengths and weaknesses are?" "tell me a time where you had to work as a group and got things done." "tell me a time when things got busy and how did you manage." They also asked if I even shop at target and what things I buy. I also found out that you are able to use your phone and use the target app to help customers find the things they are looking for if they're not available in store.
There was a lot of waiting around but I got the job! I am so happy because I've been so nervous and I really wanted to work at Target because I love it there and every experience I've had there was so good. I really want to help others because that's what my major is and to get that experience here would be so beneficial to me. I hope this leads to a future permanent job at Target!

DIY Coffee Flower Pot + Green Onion Arrangement

My video on how to make coffee beans look more attractive and a green onion arrangement that I thought would be nice as a plant in your house as well as just to grow for fun!

You only need pipe cleaners and just keep making loops and make sure to twist after every loop because you don't want the flowers to come undone! You could probably do this activity with children.. haha

For the green onion arrangement, I recommend getting a cup with "carvings" or grooves on them so the glass is a little distorted because it kinda hides the roots of the green onions as well as it's pretty too look at as well!

Thanks for reading and checking out my blog! :)

Honey Roasted Potatoes Recipe!

So me and Aaron have decided to start this crazy new diet where we only eat fruit and vegetables mon-thurs and fri-sun is when we can eat meat.
Obviously there are some exceptions to mon-thurs because we can't completely survive on vegetables and fruit. Our other options are bread, eggs, beans, cereal, etc.
So I don't really like beans which I think is one of the main replacements for meat in vegetarian dishes so I went with potatoes! ^^

I made these honey roasted potatoes and they are so amazing.. I love sweet things so this was pretty much the best thing ever and it's so simple to make with ingredients you most likely have already in your house.

What you'll need:
-potatoes
-salt
-pepper
-honey
-cooking oil/spray
-bowl
-foil
-oven (lol)

First you want to preheat the oven to 375 F
Now I used the small red potatoes because I saw them at target and I prefer them over the big brown potatoes but I'm pretty sure whichever you get will be fine..
I cut them into bite size pieces and dunked them in water. I'm not really sure why but when I used to work at a restaurant, the kitchen would tell me that when cutting potatoes, you should dunk them in a bowl of water to wash off the starch of something..?
Afterwards, I tried them off because I feel like the mixture sticks better to the potatoes when dry.

Everything is to taste so I'm sorry that there are no exact measures...
I added some salt and pepper to cover all the top of the potatoes evenly. Then with the honey I just kept going in circles and tried to cover them evenly. Then with a gloved hand, I mixed everything together so the potatoes are covered completely with the mixture.

**You want to put more pepper for a spicier kick and more honey for more sweetness. I don't like to add too much salt but this is totally up to you.
On a metal tray, you want to wrap it with foil and spray some cooking oil/spray onto it. Then spread the potatoes out evenly.

When the oven is done preheating, you want to put it in for 15 min and then take it out and flip them over and put it in for another 15 min. I put them in for 16 min each time because some didn't fully cook all the way through so you might have to adjust the timing.

The honey seemed to caramelize and the pepper added a slight kick so it was sweet and spicy. It's soooo good.

I plan on making a video today where I make a different style of potatoes and we'll see how it goes because it will be my first time making it and Aaron (my boyfriend) will be test tasting them! >:)

This is my channel if you want to check it out!

Here's the video on how to make Chili Cheese and Garlic and Herb Cheese Potatoes!

New Video!

Heyyy
I decided to make a video on how to choose a good dentist because it just has been bothering me and I don't want anyone else to go through what I did.

Always make sure that the dentist is explaining everything to you.
Make sure the dentist is always showing you your xrays and showing you your teeth formation and any cavities that you may have!
Remember that with anesthetic, your mouth cannot feel any irregularities! My dentist would always ask me if my teeth feel fine after they finish filling in a cavity. I would always tell them yes because with the anesthetic it feels fine and even if I were to lie and tell them it doesn't feel fine, I wouldn't be able to pinpoint where it feels off.
Just remember you are their patient and you deserve to know what they're doing to your teeth especially because they're getting money from you!!

on the hunt for jobs..

So I applied to Mcd and Jo-Anns recently and both got back to me!
At Mcd I think the interview went well except for the fact that I didn't have my social security card on me and I think I have to apply for a new one since I'm not really living at home anymore and it takes an hour just to go back. They asked me questions on my work experience and wanted to mainly know if I had fast food experience. They also asked how I would deal with rude customers and why I wanted to work at Mcd. I know they asked the girl before me if she had ever dealt with any difficult situations. They question that kind of caught me off guard was "If I was a customer and I had just walked in, how would you greet me?" I don't know why but immediately I thought about taking her order but I remember that every fast food usually says "hello, welcome to ______" so I went with that and she smiled and said great! :) haha
At Jo-Anns, they asked me more about my job experience in retail. They asked me if I had ever made a mistake and owned up to it and what exactly I did. They wanted to know if I saw a coworker being rude, how would I deal with the situation. Also they asked why I wanted to work at Jo-Anns. I'm not sure if this is all Jo-Anns but the one I applied to said everyone that worked there is only part-time except for managers. Also, since I applied as seasonal, they told me if I worked hard enough and they see me try, then I may get to continue working there.

Ugh I just think as a rule of thumb, if you know you're going to be needing a job soon, apply around 2-3 weeks in advanced. I applied to Jo-Anns like 2 weeks ago and they finally got back to me. For Mcd they only took 2 days but I think they had already planned days to interview potential candidates and wanted to squeeze me in. Also, make sure to have your social security card on you because for Mcd, they couldn't continue with me until they had that card so I have to go back this Saturday. :(

go fund me

http://www.gofundme.com/eitflc

I made a gofundme account to see if I can raise some money for my college tuition. I'm not sure if you know but I recently had a talk with my dad about college financial matters and things did not go well. I don't really want to get into it but I did make a post about it earlier. I realize it may make me sound spoiled or whatnot but I feel that you need to understand the dynamic between me and my father. Things obviously are not good between us although I really wish they were. Who doesn't want a good bond with their dad esp when you're a girl? Of course I'd love to be daddy's little girl and get his love but I honestly don't get any of that. I'm scared of having even short little conversations with him because I might say the wrong thing and he might get upset. I can't even have a normal conversation with him without my blood pressure rising and always being on the edge around him. It doesn't help that my parents haven't really talked to each other in probably 5 ish years and they live in the same house... There was tension in my house but now, it's almost normal. Of course I know it's not normal and I don't want to live in a house like that which is why I wanted to go off to college as well but I can't do anything about that now. Right now, I am currently looking for a job so I can save money and go to college later.. Anyways, you're welcome to donate if you want and if you don't want you can help share that link! :)
Through this I will always stay positive and optimistic!

Earrings

I've decided I want to try making earrings. I'm not sure why.. Probably because I'm just bored but i'm thinking of maybe selling them if I get really good at it.. I'm not super artsy or anything so we'll see how it goes..

This is one of the styles I wanted to go with. They do take a bit to make and it is somewhat confusing but I got the hang of it ^^ I want to make more but I'm not sure if i'll have the patience of the time.. I want to start making different style of earrings as well such as earrings with metal pieces and little ornaments instead of just all beads.. we'll see how it goes! :)

New Pet!

So we ordered some killifish eggs and they finally hatched! I have some pictures of them but I couldn't find any online pictures of how they'll look when they grow older. The breed type is "Chromaphyosemion Biuittatum Funge" and I don't think it has a common name.. lol

There's our little baby! :')

And this is our tank setup for now. They're still less than a week old so we don't want to introduce anything new yet because we still haven't settled down and we have to move in less than a month so yepp! This tank is temporary and only for when we newly hatch our babies and then when they start to get bigger we move them to a bigger tank :)

I've started another blog just dedicated to our killifish and you can read up on them here: killifishwithjkar
Thank you for reading me! ;P

rant on college financial shiet

I decided to talk to my dad about how much I would need from him for college. I do admit it is a bit late right now considering there's only a month left till college but I was trying to find a house so I can tell him an accurate price and not an estimate. Anyways so I went to go talk to him..
I estimated that I would need around $24,400-$26,000. On the csun website, it estimated that I would need around $24,312 so I was close.
I estimated around $10,000 for tuition, $8,400-$9,600 for rent ($700-$800/mo) although it could go down to $400-$500 ish, and $6,000-$7,200 for food and other necessities.
I'm not the greatest student but I was planning on taking 12 units this fall. I took around 8-10 at el co.. So I pitch my whole proposal to my dad, (understandably because he's a business person and wants to know what he's investing in) and he basically turns the whole thing around and tells me that,
I need to graduate in 2 years, (I estimated around 3 just in case)
I need to take 20 units per semester, (20 for fall and spring. I was planning on taking 12 for fall and spring and try to find a job for the free time that I'll have)
I'm not allowed to take classes in the summer because I need to find a job that pays $1500/mo or work at his place,
I need to email him all my bills, including: school tuition bills, credit card statements, bank statements, everything...
I need to send him all my transcripts,
I need to recalculate my expenses and get back to him in 2 months (because he's just trying to be as cheap as he can),
And he needs to know everything right away and not last min and if not, the whole deal is off...
And in return, I don't have to pay him back......
Also, at the end, he tells me that if my mom helps me by giving me money, I need to tell him about it..
(I have family problems esp between my parents...)
And with all these rules there are 10 million different secret meanings that he has and the fact that he can just cut me off is so infuriating.
And if I were to break any of the rules like not taking enough classes, or not finding a summer job, then he'll stop giving me money which would be horrible since I was planning on living with 3 other girls and if I just stop getting money out of nowhere, I won't be able to pay rent and that would mess up the rent price for everyone else.

Idk. As a student I don't want to have to think about not having enough money to pay for college or rent. I don't mind setting myself up for taking 12 units and then working on the side. I know I can do it because I have worked and gone to school before but his plan is ridiculous and wouldn't even work. Esp since he wants me to take 20 units but at the same time I need to remember to send him all my shit or else the whole thing is off. I don't even get my own bank statements sent to me.. If i'm taking 20 units, most likely that's almost the whole day is spent on campus.. So the only way I can print out all my statements and shit is on saturday but i'm pretty sure I need the weekend to go study..  And he magically wants me to be able to find a job in the beginning of summer.. cool. -.-

It's not the fact that my dad can't afford it either. He can. He's just stingy as hell. Why the fuck did he even have me if he didn't even have a college fund ready or get ready for the fact that I MIGHT wanna go to college... Shouldn't every parent WANT their child to go to college.. wtf. and the stupid thing is my bro has been out of high school for 2 years now doing absolutely nothing besides sleeping and eating and watching tv.. he doesn't even have a job. wth. and that prob doesn't bother my dad because at least my bro isn't asking my dad for any huge amt of money.  except for the fact that I need that huge amount of money for something important -.-
ughh end rant.

Braided bun

It's been hot this summer so I like to tie my hair up more than usual but tonight I decided to try something different and see if it comes out nice. I'm not sure if this hairstyle has been out awhile or anything but yeah...

So first, I tied up all my hair in one ponytail kind of high up on my head.. I guess it kind of slipped down as I was doing the braid and what not.
The split the ponytail in 2 and I fishtail braided both sections. The wrap it around the center and keep it in place with a hair tie. As far as I could tell, I don't think you can see the hair tie.

Just a horrible horrible day

Today I woke up earlier than usual (10 am LOL) to get my mom's car serviced for some recall on her car. Everything went fine and the mechanic was nice and very informative.

Then around 2:30, my friend calls me to tell me we may have gotten the apt we were waitlisted for but we needed to go there now to pay our deposit. So I finished dealing with the mechanic and arranging everything since I won't be here to drive my mom to the car dealership so we go on our way through traffic to get our money order. Then one of our potential roommates tell us she may not room with us because we chose a place that was a bit far from school. So we hurry and call the apt place to see if they have a 2bd or 3 bd on hold for us and mind you we were constantly calling and no one picked up -.-
START OF OUR BAD LUCK

They pick up the phone and tell us that the room has already been pre deposited (?) and has been taken. I'm not sure what went on but I'm pretty sure it was a combination of miscommunication + i don't know what..
First she tells my friend that she contacted everyone who was previously on the waitlist and none of them wanted the room so it was ours if we wanted it... And then she tells me that someone came in to see the house today and everyone waited till 4 and they paid before us so they got the house.
HOLD UP.
first of all we were never told we had to be there by 4. When she called my friend, my friend told her we were at least an hour away... And we were told we were GUARANTEED the apt if we came in with the money order TODAY. (because we asked if we could come in tomorrow)
second, if we were on waitlist vs someone who just came in this morning, shouldn't we have had first dibs on the apt....
third, the manager booked the other people for the apt while we were talking to the another person in the office and the manager didn't tell the other person that she already booked it and so there was the miscommunication among them two.
So in the end, how are we at fault and still have no house.. I don't even know...
Anywanys, then we went to Subway because we were super hungry. I have never had bad service ever in my life. Like ever. While I was ordering my sandwich the worker constantly was talking to her employee so much that she legit had to ask me twice for every ingredient because she didn't hear me the first time.. Anyways, I finished ordering all the stuff for my sandwich and there were 3 people working behind the counter and none of them came to charge me for my meal. There was absolutely no one else in the store except for my friend and she was still ordering her sandwich while I was standing there looking like a hungry idiot. They all saw me waiting but didn't bother to come give me my damn sandwich. When the same worker helping me finished helping my friend and finally charged me, she decided to charge me and my friend together without bothering to ask us. For now, I could excuse her for making me wait like 5 min when I was super hungry and I can excuse her for adding our meal together because me and my friend are both asian and everyone thinks asians look alike -.-
BUT I can't excuse her for her horrible lack of customer service. I understand you may not want to be there but you can't just be talking to your friend the whole time while the customer is trying to order something. The ultimate deal breaker was when she finally charged me, legit, I kid you not, I was standing right in front of the register and instead of handing me my card back, she threw it onto my tray.
... like wtf. Maybe it was those moments where you have to be there to feel the true feeling of when that happens to you but that is most possibly the most rudest thing you could ever do to a customer. To throw back a customer's money whether it be their card or change is inexcusable. It was so rude and that's what made me hate this particular subway. When I used to work as a cashier, I would never throw back people's money. I would always return change or their card into their hands. I would never just fling it in front of them.
Ughhh
Now after this, we had to pick up our friend from the airport. We found parking or so we thought and walked the rest to LAX. Now i'm not sure if we were just tired from our day earlier but I guess we understood the sign wrong and got a ticket. The funny thing was our friend said she was landing at 8:03 but her flight actually landed at 8:45 ish. We decided to walk back to our car around 8:55-9 ish so we could drive up and just pick them up but when we got back to the car, my friend was like "is that a parking ticket..." and it was... and the timestamp was at 8:55.. we totally could've avoided it by either reading the sign properly or our friend actually coming on time..
But that was the day we had.. omg so pooped now.. I need a miracle or some good luck soon. hopefully it'll come in the form of finding an apt for school.. haha

PUMA 'Sky Wedge Reptile' Sneaker

I finally got my new shoes!! I didn't like the style of wedge sneakers (sneaker wedges?) but after seeing multiple styles I saw these on Nordstrom. Btw Android doesn't have the Nordstrom app anymore?? Anyways they were on sale and so I got them! I looked online for ordering sizes and they said to order 1/2 size up but I don't think you need to.. I read some reviews and a lot of people said they had to but some people didn't.. The only size available was 6.5 and I'm a 6 for all/any brand.

And here are some pics with my dog!

The 6.5 is comfy and not too big. I usually like to have my shoes on tight/snug and they have a little room but not enough to bother me at all. The heel is only 3 inches high. It may seem high but it is very comfortable. I sprianed my ankle twice and sometimes I do feel slight discomfort if I wear high heels for too long but I walked my dog in these and it was fine! :)

side note: third day using aloe on my face and it's been going good so far! :]

Easy Curled Hair As Easy As 1-2-3!

Being the lazy being that I am and only doing some quick shopping, I decided to curl my hair. I'm actually not even a girly girl but I love how curls look. I also hate taking forever and I have a lot of hair. (Not thick hair) So I don't know if anyone else has this problem but if i keep messing with my hair my scalp produces more oil and then my hair starts to look flat... nasty I know so I try to do as minimal things to my head/hair as possible.
Now first you have your hair and you can brush through it or not but I didn't. (1)
You then split your hair into 2 like pigtails. (2)
Then you split each pigtail into 3 and curl! I tied one pigtail while loosening the other before splitting into 3. (3)
As easy as 1-2-3 ;)

Before :)

As you can see my hair is sort of normally wavy. It isn't stick straight. So this might work better on my hair since it is so easy to curl. I had the heat on at 330 degrees and just quickly curled my hair. I used a straighter as well so it would turn out more wavy. Throughout the day it did loosen up a little bit because I don't like to use hair spray and looked effortless. It saved so much time and was so simple!

Fishing with Mama Rodriguez

So we went fishing (06/14/14) since it was Aaron's last day here and we thought we could use the 5 receipts we saved to redeem for a a free extra 2 hours on top of the minimum we need to pay..
Lake Perris
(small boat)
first 2 hours -> $30
every hour after is $8
On THURSDAYS, first 3 hours -> $30
(fishing pontoon)
first 2 hours -> $85
every hour after is $20
On THURSDAYS, first 3 hours -> $85

But the receipts only work for the small boats so we're using them for next time but we decided to get the fishing pontoon..
All we got was sunburnt and no fish -.-
Note to self: if we're gonna buy nightcrawlers, we either need to keep changing the soil or get them only the night before.. maybe 2 days before.. We bought them on mon/tues originally thinking we were going on thursday but it got pushed to saturday... We think it was because the worms were rotting/smelling because we didn't even get a nibble in the spot we always go to. Also we asked where there were a lot of bites and checked it out but nada.. :/

Plus, I fell off my chair when the waves were kind of getting rough and scratched up my elbow.. AND I lost my rod in the ocean cuz I was trying to steer the boat and totally forgot about my line and yeah... ughh

I'm sooooo tired.. I hope Aaron has a safe flight back to Trinidad! And I hope he has a great summer there because he finally gets to rest after a tough semester at rcc.. I'm gonna miss him :'(

Easy Fried Rice

Aaron's moving out in a week so we've been packing up his stuff to leave at my house and that means packing up pots and pans and containers and etc. We've been lazy so not all the kitchen stuff has been packed and we've been trying to cook more so we can eat more healthy. Now fried rice isn't exactly the HEALTHIEST meal but we've kept it pretty simple. I didn't take pictures of our steps but i've taken pictures of the end result! :)

We used the Uncle Ben's whole grain boil-in-a-bag rice. We had it for awhile and decided to cook it and get it out of the way so we wouldn't have to pack it. It's very interesting. It comes in 4 small packs of rice with tiny holes in them and you just cook it in a pot of water. We cooked all 4 but only ended up using 3. We got one bunch of asparagus from walmart, canned corn, and some already cooked sausage.

Cook some cut up onions in olive oil. Then add the mixture of asparagus, canned corn and cooked sausage and cook that for awhile. We forgot that you should probably boil the asparagus and then cook them because they have a very "planty" taste. Also, cooking them in the oil for such a short period of time will not cook it thoroughly and it will still be a bit hard. Then add the rice. We added no salt and no pepper. The ratio mixture of asapargus, canned corn, sausage and onions to rice should be around 1:1.

Our fried rice! :) It was so delicious! The salt of the sausage was a a nice addition to the fried rice!

A close up of our fried rice!

On a side note, while at walmart, we found these blue raspberry twinkies!! My boyfriend said he pooped blue-ish greenish poop so have fun! hehe ;)

Fish Cleaning Supply Giveaway!

It's 3:33 AM right now and we're gonna go fishing in a bit! But while we're waiting for it to be 5ish, I was cleaning our old fish tanks that need to be washed because Aaron is leaving the country soon and we gotta clean out our tanks (long story).. We've been letting them run with no fish for around 2 weeks now.. blech
It's accumulated a lot of gunk and I decided to clean it out to keep me awake.
Who else has small hands that basically don't fit properly into gloves.. like ever.. Whether it be latex gloves for dissecting or just winter gloves to keep you warm.. which I don't think work at all.. lol
I found these gloves in size S at Daiso which is a Japanese convenience store I guess you could call it. We found these as well as the brush.

This brush is PERFECT for cleaning out the little ditches in tanks. The glass tanks don't have them but the plastic ones do. We had the betta bow for when we had bettas.
As you can see here, I'm cleaning out the little ditches that this tank has. It's also perfect for cleaning the corners in tanks so you can use them for glass tanks as well. You can also use regular toothbrushes as well which is what we did at first but as you can see, this brush also has bristles on the top. You can't reach the bottom corners with a regular toothbrush but you can with this one!

I was thinking that I might want to do a little giveaway to get my blog going as well as wanting to share this with you guys! Please tell me if this is something you may want because then, I can prepare and get the items to giveaway! This is free and I will currently only be shipping in the U.S.A.

What I want to giveaway is the brush as well as a pair of gloves because I have never found gloves that fit me as perfect as these do. Think Asian sizes because it is from an Asian store. I have really small fingers so this glove was perfect for me. If you want, I can give you the measurements of my hands/fingers (lol) so you guys can get a better idea of how small/big you want to go!
Thank You and please let me know in the comments below and feel free to check out my other posts! :)

Fishing!

We went fishing at Lake Perris at our favorite spot again. We always ask about other spots and have heard they catch in other areas but our area has never failed us. Today we caught 2 fish to take home and we caught like 4 others but they were too small.. One was a baby :'( All were either large mouth or small mouth bass.

So this is lake perris and we like to fish near the left mountain looking thing. It's actually an island and there's a piece that sticks out and you can fish behind it, in front of it or go a little further down and fish. It's the best place to fish (in our experience). We caught so many fish but had to let many of them go :(

This was the biggest fish we caught! Well Aaron caught it. It was 16 in when we came home to measure it. I swear it looked like it was 18 though..

Btw we were at Walmart on Valley Springs Pkwy the night before and found out they sell live bait as well!! And a bit cheaper. It was 25 nightcrawlers for $5.00 ish. I don't think the fish at Lake perris respond well to fake worms.. or the spoon bait.. or fake frogs.. because we've tried all three and we've only ever caught fish with live worms. Unless we're doing something wrong.. haha

Get paid through smartphone apps!

I decided to take advantage of my smartphone and download apps that pay you back! I got into some of them a long time ago but some of them are new. I'm writing these down to track down my progress. I did do my research before investing all my time into them. I am looking for a job right now but this is just for extra money on the side. (college loans are going to be a b*tch to pay off!) Unless you want to donate to my college fund! :P

These apps are in no particular order. I'm just going one by one on how it's listed on my phone.

I have an Android Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon.
The first link will be for Android and the second will be for iPhone users.

Shopkick/shopkick (I have been a user for 2 years)
So shopkick is a point system app. You collect "kicks" and can redeem them for giftcards and prizes. You earn kicks by going through the Editor's books and collecting single "kicks" and also for walking into stores and opening up the app. You can also connect your credit card and earn more "kicks." They offer Target, Starbucks, Best Buy, Macy's, Old Navy, Sephora and more gift cards. They also offer Beats headphones, Coach bag ($300 giftcard to coach), a Vespa, iPad Air ($500 giftcard to Target) and other things.
 I have accumulated 60,473 "kicks" in total. I still have 16,060 "kicks" that I haven't used yet but so far I have already redeemed 4 x $25 Best Buy giftcards, 1 x $50 Nike giftcard, 1 x $10 gas card, and 1 x $10 Toys "R" Us giftcard.

Total: $170
6250 "kicks" = $25

Google Opinion Rewards (I have been a user since 02/06/2014)
This is an ANDROID ONLY app. It is a survey app and all you do is answer questions and get paid for your time. You cannot earn actual cash but you do earn cash that you can use in the Google Play Store. I believe this is good dependent on the area you live in. I live in the Suburbs while my boyfriend lives in an Urban area and he has made $6.03 while I have made $19.53.

I now have $25.18 :) (09/20/2014)

Receipt Hog/Receipt Hog (I have been a user since 07/2013)
All you do is buy your regular groceries and when you're done, take a picture of the receipt through Receipt Hog and that's it! You also get coins and can play a mini slots game to win more coins. I like this app because I don't need to look for certain things that will give me money back. All your grocery receipts will work. Ex) Target, Walmart, Stater Bros, Food 4 Less, Ralph's, Petco, Petsmart, 7-Eleven, etc.
1,000 coins will get you $5.00
1,800 coins will get you $10.00
3,200 coins will get you $20.00
4,500 coins will get you $30.00
You can redeem Cash or Amazon Credit. I have 3,805 coins. I have not redeemed anything yet but when I do, I will be sure to update and say if it worked of not! :)
I redeemed $30 Amazon credit for 4,500 points on 09/09/2014 :D 09/20/2014

Field Agent/Field Agent (I have been a user since 03/20/2014)
Keep checking the app because they are constantly updating with new jobs to do. You can also answer screeners to raise your Agent Score and to see if you are eligible for future jobs. Supposedly the higher score you have, the higher paying jobs you will get and you will have access to jobs first. Be careful to read all directions because if you fail to complete the job properly, you will not get the pay and your agent score will go down. Once you go below a certain score, no jobs will be available for you.
I have earned $13.00 for doing 3 jobs. One paid $7.00 and they sent me free carrots and dip to try out and comment on. The other was a $2.00 screener and the last was a $4.00 to locate a display and take pictures and answer questions.
I now have $26.00 from doing some random surveys :) (09/09/2014)

MyVegas/MyVegas (I have been a user since 11/08/2013)
So this is more of a game than an app. You play to win comps at Vegas! I have redeemed some for a $25 giftcard to coca-cola and a free breakfast at MGM (where I was staying). You keep playing slots to earn gold coins (loyalty points) which you use to redeem the comps. It is also a facebook game and you can link it to your mobile and your loyalty points will by synced. Your chip balance however is not synced. Facebook uses red coins as their chips and mobile will use purple chips.
*I have saved up 397,210 loyalty points (not counting the points I already used to redeem the gifts up above). Make the most and invite your friends to play and start earning to redeem for free comps!
Comps range from free appetizers and meals to free rooms.

Slidejoy (I have been a user since 05/2014)
This is an ANDROID ONLY app. If you guys have heard of locket, it's just like that. It's an app where it shows you ads on your lock screen and no matter which way you swipe, you can earn money. If you swipe right you continue to unlock your phone and if you swipe left, you can interact with the ad. It's only a couple cents per day but you get paid to unlock your phone which you already do anyway!
*I have made $4.70 so far and you can only withdraw every 3 months.

iPoll/iPoll (I have been a user since 05/24/2014)
So if you like doing surveys in your free time, I recommend this. You take simple surveys. There is also an online site where you can access even more surveys. You need a minimum of $10 before you can withdraw your balance. Some surveys online take a long time but the ones on mobile take a few minutes. Some are simple and can enter you in a drawing to win $25 or iPad. Others ask you to go to a grocery list and take pictures and answer questions. You get $5 just for signing up! I'm really unsure of this app though because I have answered a couple surveys 2 days ago and they are still pending. I will update whether or not it goes through or not because I took some surveys online which were around 10-20 minutes long and I don't feel like wasting time if i'm not going to get paid for my time.
*So far I have $20.35 and $5.50 pending. Best survey app so far!

SOTG/SOTG (I have been a user since 05/2014)
Surveys On The Go (SOTG) is also a survey app. Based on other reviews, depending on where you live, you get more surveys. I am currently in an Urban area but I live in the suburbs. It uses your GPS (if you turn it on) to find surveys near you. When you first sign up, they give you 6 surveys at $.25 each. You need a minimum of $10 to cash out. I got another set of 3 surveys at $.25 each two days later. I'm not sure how good this is but people have been saying good things so we'll see!
*I have $6.35 so far. Surveys don't come as often as iPoll.

Jingit/Jingit (I have been a user since 05/24/2014)
As far as I can see, you can watch videos and scan things at stores and it gives you direct money. There is no point system. Once you earn $3, you can apply to get their Visa card and directly transfer the balance onto the card! This is only the second day that i've been using it and apparently you don't get videos everyday so it might be slow trying to get money from the app. So far I got $.80 from watching videos and $1.75 for scanning items. I wasn't able to find some of them but the items are big name brand items such as Elmer's glue and Irish Spring Body wash. So far I have $2.55 (not enough to get the Visa card yet) but hopefully I will be able to and I can start using it when I buy small purchases!
*I got a total of $6.80 and recently they added redeemable gift cards and are giving an exra $5 to add toward your purchase of any giftcard!

PriceSpotting StockUp/StockUp (I have been a used since 05/28/2014)
I have been obsessed with this app! If you are annoyed with going around trying to find and scan a particular item that isn't there or is different from the picture shown, then you might be interested in this app! This app allows you to scan all grocery items, including health and beauty, beer, wine and spirits, baby and pet products. It allows you to scan items and find areas where it may be cheaper. The prices are input by people like us and is always updated! You are also rewarded with points to redeem for cash later on! The first 1,000 points you earn will get you your first $2 reward. Afterwards, every 1,000 points is equivalent to $1. That may seem like a lot but if you were to scan any item under the categories listed above, it will earn you 20 points. Also if you open the app, there are certain items that will earn you 30 points. I was able to get almost 2,000 points on my first day of scanning just from the items that were listed for 30 points on the app. They are also popular name brands such as tylenol and wheat thins. You can also scan as many as you want! Scan every flavor of wheat thins and you will get points! As of now, I have 13,559 points and have already redeemed my points for $10. They only allow you to redeem in $1, $5 or $10 amounts.
I have redeemed $150 through paypal. (09/20/2014)

Clashot/Clashot (I have been a user since 05/30/2014)
These apps are for people who take amazing photos! For Clashot, your photos will be sold for .99.
On Clashot, your photos are uploaded as "reports" and all photos will be available to be sold. Also, you can get monetary likes which is when a particular person likes your photo and you will receive a little bit of money for that "like".
Come follow me here :)

Swagbucks (I have been a user since 07/18/2014)
All you need to do are watch videos. There are other things such as polls and surveys that will give you points as well as using their search engine. I really don't have the time for surveys so I just watch videos. Every 1,000 points is equal to $1 except amazon credit which is 450 pts = $5. For swagbucks tv, you will earn 2 pts every 5 vids. For android you can also download MovieCli.ps and Sportly.tv which will give you 2 pts every 10 videos you watch and on iphone, you can download EntertaiNow for 2 pts every 10 videos.
I now have 8,365 "swagbucks"(09/20/2014)

PerkTv (I have been a user since 06/27/2014)
There was around 2 weeks when I moved (stayed in the same state. different city) and for some reason the app kept saying users in my country were not allowed to earn pts... But for now, I have accumulated 72,296. This is only based on me watching videos. I answered some of the perk pop quiz questions for extra pts but I only got around 100 pts in total for the questions I answered. I wasn't really interested in answering questions. For this app, 5000 pts = $5 so I have around $72. Every 2 vids you watch will earn you 4 perk points.
I now have 83,332 perk points. (09/20/2014)

College!

I was taking 2 online classes and 2 on campus classes and I needed all those classes to transfer.
I was taking Psych 12, Psych 16, Poli Sci 1 and Speech. I already knew I got an "A" in Speech and a "C" in Poli Sci. I hate political science and don't understand any of it.. -.-
I knew I was/am going to get a "B" in Psych 16 (Lifespan Development) and I was just waiting for my Psych 12 (Human Sexuality) grade. I just looked online and got a "C"!! Not the best grade but a passing grade at least! I will be transferring to CSUN! yayyy!

Moving in with my best friend and rooming together. I know they say not to room with your friends but it's a new city and we might as well for the first year and see how it goes. Student loans is gonna be a bitch but I found out only Wells Fargo does student loans.. I checked Chase and BoA and they don't do student loans.. arghhh college is expensive.. I looked up houses and found places that would cost us around $600 (~$510 for rent and ~$80 for utilities and internet). I think it's a pretty good deal..
I'm so excited!

Pink Striped Nails

I did my nails like 2 days ago but I couldn't get a good picture of them but I did now! When I first did my thumb, they instantly remind me of Victoria's Secret. You can search up "victoria's secret bag" but i'm pretty sure you all know what it looks like. The typical pink and hot pink stripes or the pink and white stripes.

Now I was actually inspired by my blog theme because it was originally pink but my favorite color is blue. I may change it back to pink because it was pretty as well.

All the materials I used for this was just nail polish, tape and some scissors.

I didn't take any pictures of the process because I was too busy spilling nail polish on the bed.. haha -.- I swear it just slipped and twirled and landed on the bed.. don't do your nails on the bed!!

You just get the tape and cut it into thin strips. I didn't measure them but I found the easiest way to cut the strips is to lay the tape on the bottom blade and section off how thick you want your strips and then cut and let the top blade come down and slice it off for you. It's the easiest way.

I used the pure ice "love" which is the lighter pink as my base and then pure ice "flirt alert" (darker pink) as the strips. Pure ice is only sold at walmart and maybe online through amazon. They're only $1.99 and they're really pigmented!

You want to wait awhile after you paint on your base color so that when you stick the tape on, it doesn't strip off the base color when you peel it off.
Lay the strips (I used 2-3) for each nail and then paint the second color on top. Then hurry and peel the strips off. Try to strip them off the straight from the tip of the nail to the base or vice versa but don't peel in one direction. ex) Don't peel them off pulling towards the right or to the left because the strips will get narrow and you will not have nice equal lines.

Manners

Why do we need manners..
Because it's respectful..
It's what we were taught to do when we were younger..
And it keeps us classy!

Now what sparked this anger fueled post is that i'm staying at my boyfriend's apt for a while because school is out for me! It's a shared apt with 3 other guys and what pisses me off is when someone takes our food and won't fess up. You'd think that first of all you shouldn't take other people's food right? wrong. Someone is constantly taking our food. The first incident that really pissed me off is when we bought a pack of cinnamon rolls. Mind you we only ate 2 out of the whole box. There were like .. 16... or so.. And the next morning, we walked out and it's completely gone! We come out starving and getting ready to eat the cinnamon rolls for morning and nothing.

Now we asked the 2 other guys living here at the time and one is a close friend of my boyfriend's and he said he didn't touch it so we asked the other roommate. My boyfriend has lived with him before and the roommate has stolen food before and never confessed to it. Let's call him "D". So now we had this suspicion that "D" ate our food so we asked him but he said he didn't touch it either. Strike One.

Next was Halloween. You guys may or may not know that during Halloween, they start selling green tea kit kat bars!! They taste sooo yummy! So anyways around October, I was visiting my boyfriend and I bought a bag of green tea kit kats and I had extra pop tarts so I brought them over. I left them on the kitchen table while we went out to do errands. We came back and "D" was there minding his own business when I realized a lot of the kit kats were gone as well as my pop tart.. I'm really irritated now so we just ask him and he's like "Oh yeah I had some of those. Sorry." And I asked him about the pop tart and he was just like "Oh that pop tart thing? Yeah I saw it in the bag but I don't know where it went now." ... really.. He happens to be the last one to see it but not know who ate it. Plus he admitted to eating our stuff without even texting us if he could have some. Strike Two.

Today, we were eating our pita bread and hummus and  later on I got a bit hungry and I remember seeing my ice cream in the freezer yesterday so I came out to get some. GONE. wtf?! We're assuming it's "D" but.. come on. He's always been eating our food. My boyfriend already experienced him stealing his food last time he lived with him. So.. Strike Three.

What should we do?!
So far, we found that he had precooked meals in the fridge so we salted it. A lot.
Any suggestions?
By the way, we also have a new roommate who constantly likes to live in 84 degree weather.. The daily temperature outside has been in the high 90's -100's.. who wants to live in hot weather all the time?! He raises the temperature every night to the point that i'm sweating when I wake up in the middle of the night because it's so damn hot. We don't know what to do with him yet either.. grrr...

Pita Bread!

My boyfriend is taking a speech class and is doing a speech on how to make pita bread so I decided to upload the recipe here as well!

We used the recipe from http://mideastfood.about.com/od/breadsrice/r/pitabreadrecipe.htm but I'm a visual person so i'll be posting pictures as well! :)

Ingredients

- 3 Cups of flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 package of yeast
- 1/2 cup of warm water
- 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of lukewarm water
- olive oil

1) You want to first mix the packet of yeast with 1/2 cup of warm water. Then add the 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar (we used brown here) and stir. Then let sit for 10-15 min until water it frothy. It should look like this when done!

2) While waiting for the yeast, mix 3 cups of flour and the 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Make a hole in the flour to add the yeast mixture in.

3)  When the yeast mixture is done, add it in as well as the 1 cup of warm water. Mix slowly and thoroughly and it should be sticky and elastic.

4) Flour your board and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it is smooth and not sticky.

5) Oil a bowl (preferably with a lid) with some olive oil and drop the dough in. Flip it over and take the dough out and put the non-oiled side into the bowl so it is oiled thoroughly. Now let it sit for 3 hours or until it has double in size.

sorry for the blurry picture but we wrapped our bowl in a small towel because the weather here is in the high 90's so we have the a/c on.

6) Now you want to preheat the oven to 500 degrees and start rolling out the dough into little balls. This should make around 12 balls. You want to let it sit for 10 min while the oven is preheating. You also want to heat up the pan you will be using to cook the pita bread on so pop that in the oven as well.

7) We don't have a rolling pin so we just squashed the balls with our hands to make round circles. They shouldn't be so thick. It should be around 1/4 of an inch thick

8) With your heated pan, place the pita bread on it and cook for 4 min and then flip it and cook again for 2 min. You then want to push down with a spatula to squeeze out any air in the middle.
Then eat with hummus and enjoy! I love tomatoes and we had some leftover from the other day when we made hummus!
